I grew up in a small town in NC and moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University (GO PACK!) in 2002, where I received my undergraduate degree in Political Science and Psychology. Later, after discovering my passion for helping underserved communities, I went back to NC State in order to obtain my Master’s degree in Social Work. I have worked with homeless and underserved populations for over 15 years. I can truly say that it is the most rewarding work—I love my patients! I truly believe that every person has a story of value. A lot can be learned by earnest conversation and a core belief that, despite life’s circumstances, we have more in common than we have differences. A little known fact is that I worked through college as a private chef. Cooking remains my favorite hobby, as well as spending time with my husband, daughter, and my little Pomeranian. I am also known for my uncanny ability to remember all kinds of football stats (just test me!). I love working for Duke. Thank you for allowing me to serve you as a Care Specialist.
