I have lived in North Carolina for most of my life. I graduated with my BSN from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (Aggie Pride!), and I received my MSN from Aspen University. I am a native of NC raised on a 78 acre farm. I learned values such as the benefits of working hard, working as a team/family, and I enjoyed the unity experienced with a large family. Eighteen years ago, I started my career as an RN in the Duke Intensive Care Nursery. While caring for the most fragile of patients in the unit, I valued the relationships and education of the families of those patients. The sometimes long road to recovery can be made more bearable for a family by a staff focused on education and understanding.
Since becoming a nurse in 2011, I have developed a passion not only for helping people understand the medical jargon providers use, but also how to fit this information into their lives. Along with supporting others, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and generally enjoying the outdoors.
