I’m a graduate of North Carolina Central University. I have many years of experience in the health care field. I have a passion for helping others. I enjoy spending time with family, traveling, and watching movies.
I was born and raised in Durham, NC. I have been in healthcare for 15 years and am truly passionate about taking care of others. In January 2020, I started my Duke career with Duke Primary Care as a Patient Care Associate, and now I am excited to start a new journey here with DukeWELL. My passion is helping others any way I can, so I am thankful to be working in a department that will allow me to continue serving others.
I was born and raised in Durham, NC, and I am a mother of three boys. I enjoy meeting and working with people from all over. Experiencing the loss of both of my parents within the past year inspired me to become an advocate and voice for patients within the health care system.
I have been in customer service for eight years. I feel good giving people the best version of myself and helping in whatever I can. I pride myself in being personable with rich qualities of loyalty and trustworthiness. I like being in a workplace where I will continue to help others and do something I absolutely love: using both of my languages!
I possess over 20 years of healthcare and educational experience combined. My experience has afforded me the opportunity to work with cognitively disabled adults and children with special needs, both paraprofessional and substitute teacher in the public school sector, and an instructor in an allied health program for medical and administrative assistants. I am a US Air Force veteran, and I have a passion to help and serve my community in any capacity. I enjoy reading, volunteering my time, and spending quality time with family and friends.
I have a management background in health insurance and as a government contractor. I received a degree in Health Science in 2014. I am currently studying for Healthcare Administration. I owned and managed a group home for Intellectual Disabled adults with critical needs for over 10 years. I have always had a strong desire to assist people with their needs in everyday life. Working as an associate in PHMO allows me to continue bridging the gap for patients by providing the resources necessary to fulfill their healthcare needs and essentials.
I have been at Duke for 5 years, serving as both a Nursing Assistant and an Advanced Health Unit Coordinator. After completing a Community Health Worker (CHW) certification course at DTCC, I began to better understand the importance of having outreach and resource persons within any given community. I enjoy providing helpful information to those who may not be aware of—or adequately informed of—those things that may help one make better health and lifestyle choices.
I previously worked at the Duke Eye Center as a Financial Care Counselor, where I assisted patients with their financial benefits. I worked closely with insurance companies and our providers. I enjoy helping people in anything I do. I look forward to assisting our patients here with PHMO.
I recently moved here from Michigan with two of my daughters, and I am looking forward to seeing less snow. When I am not working, I enjoy trying new baking and cooking recipes, walks with nature, and art.
